The San Antonio, TX residents in this case were the victims of a home invasion. The thieves took cash and jewelry, and then took the owners’ Honda Ridgeline to escape in. Thanks to the LoJack transponder concealed in the SUV, local police recovered it that same day, along with two other recently stolen vehicles.
On March 29th, 2014, the Honda’s owner contacted the San Antonio Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Ridgeline, which was installed at Fuller Honda in Chula Vista, CA.
A short while later, officers from the San Antonio PD and the Bexar County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Texas Department of Public Safety Unit 107 picked up the homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Honda was located at a private residence near IH 37 South, parked behind the garage with two other vehicles taken in previous home invasions. Several suspects at the site were detained by police. The Ridgeline was retrieved and soon returned to its grateful owners.
