The LoJack® System Helps Union County, New Jersey Police Recover 2013 Toyota Corolla
- November 8, 2013
The owner of a 2013 Toyota Corolla made a bad decision when he decided to leave his car running and unlocked while he shopped in a convenience store. When he exited the store, his car had already exited the parking lot. This victim was saved by a good decision he had made when he purchased his vehicle- he had the LoJack® system installed, so local law enforcement, assisted by LoJack, recovered his Corolla that same day.
On October 19th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Perth Amboy Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Corolla, which was installed at Hudson Toyota in Union City, NJ.
A short time later, a patrol officer from the Union County PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer tracked the Toyota Corolla to the Woodbridge Shopping Mall, where it was parked and abandoned. The undamaged Corolla was soon returned to its grateful owner.
