Broward County, FL – A stolen 2025 Honda Civic valued at approximately $25,000 to $30,000 was successfully recovered following a coordinated investigation involving the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, the Sunrise Police Department, and LoJack Law Enforcement support. The investigation resulted in the recovery of the stolen vehicle, the arrest of five suspects, and the recovery of components from another stolen vehicle.
The owner reported the Honda Civic stolen to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office and the LoJack Call Center. Deputies promptly entered the vehicle into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), while the LoJack Call Center activated the vehicle within the LoJack Law Enforcement App, providing real-time tracking capabilities for responding agencies.
Shortly after the theft, tracking information revealed the vehicle had been parked in a hotel parking lot. Investigators recognized the tactic as a common “cool-down” method often used by offenders to avoid immediate detection before returning to a stolen vehicle at a later time.
Officers with the Sunrise Police Department located the Civic during patrol operations and notified Broward County Sheriff’s Office investigators. Detectives subsequently assumed responsibility for the investigation and established surveillance on the vehicle while awaiting the suspects’ return.
During the surveillance operation, a suspect returned and drove the stolen Honda Civic to a nearby commercial business location. Detectives maintained coordination and monitored the vehicle’s movements while continuing the investigation.
Based on information developed during the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for the property. Execution of the warrant led to the safe recovery of the stolen Civic, the arrest of five suspects, and the recovery of an engine from another stolen vehicle.
