Auburn, WA — What started as a routine vehicle sale quickly turned into a high-stakes interstate recovery—ending with law enforcement in Arizona locating a stolen 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee thanks to LoJack’s cutting-edge GPS technology.
A Washington dealership believed they had sold the Jeep to a legitimate customer. But just a week later, the dealership discovered the sale had been made using fraudulent information, leaving them responsible for a major financial loss.
The crime was reported to the Auburn Police Department, and the vehicle’s VIN was promptly entered into the NCIC database. Fortunately, every vehicle on the dealership’s lot is pre-installed with a LoJack GPS device. Once the theft was confirmed, the sales manager contacted LoJack’s 24-hour Stolen Vehicle Recovery Hotline to request assistance.
LoJack SVR agents immediately activated the system and entered the vehicle into LoJack LE, the company’s new law enforcement–only recovery platform. Within seconds, the system revealed that the Jeep was already in Phoenix, Arizona—over 1,200 miles away.
Authorities in Phoenix were notified and, using real-time tracking through LoJack LE, were able to pinpoint the vehicle’s exact location. Officers moved in and recovered the Jeep safely, finding it unoccupied. The vehicle was quickly towed and secured, awaiting transport back to Washington.
“This is exactly why LoJack exists,” said a LoJack spokesperson. “Fraudulent sales and interstate thefts happen fast—but LoJack moves faster. Our partnership with law enforcement makes these recoveries possible.”
The dealership credits LoJack’s speed, accuracy, and collaboration with police for turning what could have been a major loss into a success story.
