Nissan Versa Stolen and Recovered by Fort Lauderdale Police for 2nd Time in 5 Days
- April 25, 2012
The owner of a 2009 Black Nissan Versa 4-door sedan arrived home after work and discovered his car missing and immediately contacted the Hollywood Police Department to report the theft.
Upon arrival at the scene, the responding officer met with the owner of the Versa, who stated that sometime between 10:00pm and midnight someone had stolen their 4-door sedan from where it was parked. The officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the vehicle’s information entered into the federal and state crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Nissan Versa.
Later that morning, a Fort Lauderdale Police Department officer received the silent LoJack radio signal from the stolen Nissan’s LoJack unit, and began tracking it. Shortly thereafter, the officer, along with backup, located the Nissan, abandoned in the 200 block of S.W. 20th Avenue. The vehicle was recovered with no visible theft damage and towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping.
It should be noted that this is the second time that this vehicle has been stolen and recover with LoJack Stolen Vehicle Police Recovery System within 5 days.
