Los Angeles, CA – A 2021 Jeep Gladiator, stolen from a Los Angeles resident, was successfully recovered after crossing the U.S.–Mexico border thanks to the advanced LoJack GPS system and the swift coordination of law enforcement partners on both sides of the border.
The Jeep was reported stolen to the Los Angeles Police Department and entered into the NCIC database. Immediately, the vehicle’s owner contacted the 24-hour LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery (SVR) hotline.
Using the pre-installed LoJack GPS device, the vehicle’s location was quickly traced — astonishingly, it had already crossed into Mexico.
The case was escalated to a LoJack Law Enforcement Liaison, who worked closely with the California Highway Patrol Mexican Liaison Unit. Live tracking data from the LoJack system was shared with the Mexican National Guard and Mexican Army, allowing authorities to monitor the vehicle as it traversed desert terrain at high speeds near the Sonora state line.
Thanks to real-time tracking and seamless international coordination, Mexican authorities were able to intercept the Jeep without incident after the driver fled on foot. The vehicle was secured at a safe facility, awaiting repatriation to the United States.
