(VIDEO) The LoJack® System Helps Police Recover Classic 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible
- September 20, 2013
LoJack® for Classics is a stolen vehicle recovery system especially designed for classic cars and specialty vehicles offering the protection of the LoJack system in a self-powered unit that does not interfere with the way your machine looks or operates. This Los Angeles based owner of a 1966 Ford Mustang convertible was certainly glad his ‘baby’ was LoJack protected- it was stolen and retrieved twice in the last 17 months by local police assisted by LoJack.
On August 22nd, 2013, the Mustang’s owner contacted police to report his car had been stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the classic car.
A short time later, police officers began received the homing signal from the stolen Ford on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicles. They tracked the signal to a private driveway where they found the Mustang hidden by a car cover, right next to a “No Trespassing” sign. Contact was made with the resident of the location and a witness who gave police the name of the person who had driven up in the car. The suspect was contacted and asked to come to the location, where he was taken into custody. The Mustang, which had sustained only ignition damage, was soon returned to its grateful owner, who told police that this was the second time his car had been stolen and retrieved using LoJack since March of the previous year. The car has an approximate value of $20,000.
