What is LoJack® SafetyNet™? LoJack SafetyNet is a search and rescue system designed to track and rescue people at risk of wandering, including those with Alzheimer's, autism, Down syndrome, dementia and other cognitive disorders. Once a client is enrolled in the LoJack SafetyNet service, he or she is outfitted with a Personal Locator Unit (PLU) on his or her wrist or ankle. Should the client wander or go missing, trained law enforcement and public safety agencies use digital LoJack SafetyNet Search and Rescue Receivers to track the Radio Frequency signal emitted from the PLU on the client's wrist or ankle, the client is located, rescued and returned to his or her loved ones. back to top

What does it cost for a law enforcement / public safety agency to become a member of LoJack® SafetyNet™? The LoJack SafetyNet program is offered to qualified law enforcement and public safety agencies at no cost. This includes search and rescue equipment and in-depth training and certification on the use of special equipment, technology and procedures for performing a search and rescue operation. Training includes special instruction on how to communicate with people afflicted with cognitive disorders (i.e. Alzheimer's, autism), which is essential to the successful rescue of missing people who wander. back to top
If someone wanders and is in a hidden location, how do you find them? The Personal Locator Unit (PLU) is a wrist or ankle bracelet that uses Radio Frequency technology, which is proven to be the best and most reliable technology for tracking and rescuing people who wander or become lost. Radio Frequency operates even if the person is located in or around a densely wooded area, in a concrete structure, in a subway, or in a building constructed with steel. Additionally, Radio Frequency delivers the utmost precision in "last mile" tracking, which enables police to pinpoint the precise location of the missing person. back to top
Can a caregiver use the equipment to track a loved one without involving local law enforcement or search and rescue personnel? The LoJack SafetyNet system relies on law enforcement and public safety agencies for tracking and rescuing people who are missing. The in-depth training on how to use the Search and Rescue Receiver makes search and rescue team members best equipped to execute this delicate mission. In addition, a caregiver, under stress is likely to be unable to get the tracking unit to function properly, thereby making search and rescue personnel better suited to complete the task successfully. back to top
Does the Personal Locator Unit / 'bracelet' require any maintenance? The waterproof bracelet is designed to be worn 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including in the shower or while swimming.
In addition to search and rescue support, the LoJack SafetyNet Solution includes a monthly visit from a locally trained representative to change the battery and strap on the personal location bracelet. In addition, a caregiver completes a brief and simple daily test on the bracelet to ensure that the device is operational.
You can contact LoJack customer support at 1-877-4-FIND-THEM (1-877-434-6384) 24 hours a day, seven days a week for questions or support. back to top
How does LoJack SafetyNet compare with competitive products such as GPS or cellular based offerings? Click here for a side by side comparison between the LoJack SafetyNet Solution and competitive products.
- The LoJack SafetyNet system relies on Radio Frequency technology which is the most robust and effective technology for search and rescue. Radio Frequency signals can track people in hidden locations (such as a densely wooded area, concrete structure, subway, or building constructed with steel), whereas GPS / cellular products require line of sight with orbiting satellites in order to be operational.
- Other products such as locks or even wander alert systems are helpful in securing or monitoring an area, but cannot help track and rescue someone that has left the perimeter.
- Maintenance is minimal versus other products like GPS/cellular-based bracelets, which require that the battery be changed every few days.
- LoJack SafetyNet works on frequency band 216.0125-216.9875 MHz, which is allocated by the FCC for law enforcement tracking - meaning that our signal will experience no interference with digital TV.
- The LoJack SafetyNet Search and Rescue Receiver is water resistant to withstand harsh weather conditions.
- The LoJack SafetyNet Personal Locator Unit is waterproof for protection 24/7.
- LoJack SafetyNet has consistent frequency coverage and functionality in markets throughout the United States and Canada, meaning you are covered when traveling between areas within the program.
- LoJack SafetyNet is directly integrated with law enforcement. Law enforcement and public safety personnel are equipped with Search and Rescue Receivers, which are provided to agencies by LoJack at no cost.
- The comprehensive training process provided to law enforcement and other public safety agencies teaches search and rescue team members the psychology of people afflicted with Alzheimer's and autism -specifically how to search for and approach them, what to do to gain their trust and how to communicate with them. This process is critical to achieving successful rescues.
