What is LoJack and how does it work?
LoJack is a Stolen Vehicle Recovery System that allows police to track and recover your stolen vehicle. A LoJack Unit is hidden in your vehicle by a certified technician and is registered in the LoJack database. When you file a stolen vehicle report with the police, police computers send a silent radio signal to your car, automatically activating the hidden LoJack transmitter in your vehicle. Police can then track the signal and locate the vehicle.

How do I know if my LoJack is working?
Your LoJack is tested and certified at the time of installation. We then recommend an inspection of your LoJack every two years. Inspections cost $79* and can be arranged by calling 1-800-4-LOJACK (1-800-456-5225).

*Pricing is subject to change without notice.

Call us at 1-800-4-LOJACK (1-800-456-5225) to schedule an inspection of your LoJack or to talk to a Customer Service Representative who can answer any questions you may have. Does my car need to be running for LoJack to work?
No. The LoJack Unit constantly draws a very small amount of power from your vehicle's battery. Should your battery be disconnected, LoJack's backup battery will provide power.

What should I do if my vehicle is stolen?
If your vehicle is stolen, report the theft immediately to the police in the town or city where it was stolen. Once you've completed a stolen vehicle report, the police will automatically activate the LoJack Unit in your vehicle. After you contact the police, call a LoJack Customer Service Representative at 1-800-4-LOJACK (1-800-456-5225). LoJack will provide you with information on insurance company reporting requirements that will save you time. In addition, they can help you with the documentation requirements for filing a claim for any warranties that you are entitled to.

If you purchased an Extended Recovery Warranty and you need to file a claim, please call 1-800-4-LoJack (1-800-456-5225).

If you purchased a Guarantee Plus 5000, a Protection Plus 5000 or a Motorcycle Recovery Plus 5000, and your vehicle was stolen and not recovered within 30 days, or recovered but deemed a total loss, please refer to your original policy for the appropriate contact information of your administrator. If you do not have your original paperwork, please call 1-800-4-LoJack (1-800-456-5225) and a LoJack Customer Service Representative can assist you further.

What should I do if my vehicle is involved in an accident?
If your vehicle sustains damage as a result of an accident, you should call us at 1-800-4-LOJACK (1-800-456-5225) to schedule an inspection for your LoJack. This inspection is required in order to maintain your warranty coverage and to ensure your LoJack is in working condition.

What happens when I sell my vehicle? Can I transfer my LoJack to my new vehicle?
Your LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System is not transferable from one vehicle to another as the serial number on your LoJack Unit is registered to the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of your vehicle. However, LoJack may enhance your vehicle's resale value.

Will my insurance company offer me a discount if I have LoJack?
Many insurance companies offer a discount to LoJack owners. In fact, some insurance companies offer up to 35 percent off the comprehensive portion of your insurance premium for equipping your vehicle with LoJack and an alarm. Call your insurance agent to see if you qualify for a discount.

Can car thieves find my LoJack and beat the system?
The LoJack Unit is very small–about the size of a deck of cards–so it can be hidden in as many as 20 to 30 different places in your vehicle. This makes it very difficult for thieves to find your LoJack.

Why is there no exterior marking on the vehicle stating it has LoJack? Wouldn't a LoJack sticker act as a theft deterrent? LoJack is not designed to be a deterrent. One of the major benefits of the System is that LoJack is covert, thus a thief does not know whether or not your vehicle is equipped with LoJack. This increases the likelihood of rapid recovery and minimal damage.

LoJack is very easy to use. If your vehicle is stolen, report the theft immediately to the police in the town or city where it was stolen. The police will automatically activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System in your vehicle. After you contact the police, call a LoJack Customer Service Representative at 1-800-4-LOJACK (800-456-5225) who will provide you with information on insurance company reporting requirements that could save you time.

How is LoJack different from other systems?
LoJack is the only Stolen Vehicle Recovery System operated by police. It is based on wireless Radio Frequency technology. From ground or air, police can track the silent signal from your LoJack whether it is in a garage, an underground parking facility, or in a warehouse. This differs from most GPS-based tracking systems, which require direct line-of-sight to the sky.

Is LoJack a high-end alarm system?
LoJack is not an alarm system. Alarms work as theft deterrents but do not provide a way for your stolen vehicle to be tracked and recovered.

Are there different LoJack systems?
LoJack products include the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System, which allows police to track and recover your vehicle after you report it stolen, and the LoJack Early Warning Recovery System, which is an additional layer of protection on top of the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System. Early Warning automatically contacts you if your car has been moved without your permission.
