The LoJack Early Warning Recovery System is an added layer of protection for vehicle owners seeking to reduce the threat of theft. It alerts you when an unauthorized person moves your protected vehicle. It comes with the LoJack System, a wireless Radio Frequency-based system that is utilized by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies throughout the United States.

What is included when I purchase the LoJack Early Warning Recovery System?
The LoJack Early Warning Recovery System includes the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System, an Early Warning motion sensor and two uniquely coded Early Warning Key Passes. The LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System, a Radio Frequency-based system with tracking technology, helps police recover your vehicle quickly and is utilized by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies throughout the United States. Early Warning, an additional layer of protection, alerts you if your vehicle is moved without your authorization. This system is part of LoJack's complete network, which also includes the Radio Frequency towers that tie together your System with the law enforcement officials' trackers.

How does the LoJack Early Warning System work?
The Early Warning motion sensor and the uniquely coded Early Warning Key Pass work together to detect authorized or unauthorized movement of your vehicle. The Early Warning Key Pass is carried by the authorized user of the vehicle and its presence alerts the system that an authorized user is behind the wheel. If your vehicle is driven without the Early Warning Key Pass present, Early Warning notification is sent to you via home phone, work phone, cell phone, e-mail or text message- however you wish to be contacted. You can choose up to five different means of contact for notification.

What are the contact options?
In order to offer you maximum flexibility, LoJack provides the following basic methods of contact for Early Warning notification: text message, e-mail, home phone, cell phone, and work phone. When registering, you can choose up to five of these contact methods, although two or three will normally suffice. LoJack will contact you at each contact point you select should your vehicle be moved without the presence of the Key Pass.

Are there any special operating instructions for LoJack Early Warning?
LoJack Early Warning was designed to be very easy to operate. In fact, it works automatically as long as the driver has the Early Warning Key Pass when the vehicle is in use and as long as you have registered your LoJack Early Warning System and provided your points of contact.. There are no buttons to push or alarms to set. Should you receive Early Warning notification and believe your vehicle has been stolen, a standard theft report to police will activate your LoJack. A silent signal is then transmitted from LoJack, which helps police track and recover your stolen vehicle. A LoJack Customer Service Representative can assist you with the theft reporting process and provide key information that will help you when you contact your insurance company about the theft.

How do I register the LoJack Early Warning System?
When LoJack Early Warning is purchased, some initial registration information may be provided. You must then complete the registration process by registering online, or by calling LoJack Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-4-LoJack (1-800-456-5225 Monday- Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST/PST). Registering your LoJack Early Warning System and provided your points of contact are required for the Early Warning feature to feature to operate.

What does LoJack Early Warning notification sound like or look like?
Should you choose to be contacted via phone, LoJack delivers a pre-recorded message alerting you that your vehicle may have been moved without your authorization. If you selected e-mail or text message as the method of contact, LoJack delivers a text message or e-mail with the model and make of the car as well as the date and time the LoJack Early Warning was triggered.

What happens when I sell my vehicle? Can I transfer LoJack Early Warning to my new vehicle?
The LoJack Early Warning Recovery System is not transferable from one vehicle to another, as the serial number on the system is registered by the police to the 18-digit VIN of their vehicle. When selling your vehicle however, you should mention to the dealer or buyer that your vehicle is equipped with LoJack Early Warning. Having LoJack Early Warning may enhance your vehicle's resale value. The subsequent owner of the vehicle can then call LoJack to purchase a subsequent owner package and have the system registered in their name.

What kind of maintenance is recommended for the LoJack Early Warning system?
To ensure optimum performance, the batteries in the Early Warning Key Passes should be changed every six months. Click here for instructions on battery replacement.
