The LoJack® System Helps California Highway Patrol Recover Stolen Toyota Tacoma in ELEVEN MINUTES!

  • May 10, 2013

This next case took place in a California town located very close to Disneyland. A 2011 Toyota Tacoma was stolen by the owner’s ex-boyfriend, who obviously is no Prince Charming. The extremely fast recovery proves that, no matter how far a thief goes, with the LoJack® System and your local police doing the tracking, it’s a small world after all.

On April 30th, 2013, the owner of a 2011 Toyota Tacoma contacted Santa Ana Police to report that her truck had been stolen. Santa Ana PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the vehicle, which was installed at Toyota of Huntington Beach, CA.

A short while later, a California Highway Patrol (CHP) Air Unit was on patrol over Disneyland when they picked up the homing signal from the Tacoma and tracked it to a park in Santa Ana.  They notified ground units, who located the unoccupied vehicle parked in a driveway across from the park.  A male entered the vehicle and was taken into custody. He was later revealed to be the Tacoma owner’s former boyfriend. The Toyota was soon returned to its relieved owner, providing her with a ‘happily ever after’ ending to an otherwise stressful day.
