LoJack Helps Bronx District Attorney’s Office Recover Five Stolen Motorcycles

In cooperation with law enforcement, LoJack Corporation recovered over 10,000 cars and trucks last year. As you’re about to read, recoveries don’t always happen one at a time.
After receiving an alert from their LoJack Early Warning System, the owner of a 2011 Suzuki GSX-R1000 contacted NYPD’s 45th precinct, to report their motorcycle as stolen.
The NYPD verified the theft and entered the motorcycle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Suzuki motorcycle.
Just one hour after the LoJack activation, detectives assigned to the Bronx DA’s Auto Squad picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Suzuki on the Police Tracking Computer installed in their unmarked patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the detectives tracked the vehicle to a 24 hour commercial valet parking garage located on the 1300 block of Boston Rd., within the confines of the Bronx’s 42nd precinct.
The detectives interviewed the parking attendant who stated the stolen Suzuki arrived several hours earlier along with a 2nd motorcycle. A query of all the motorcycles at the location produced four additional stolen motorcycles:
- 2012 Suzuki GSX-R750 approx. value- $11,590.00
- 2008 Yamaha YZF-R6 approx. value- $ 8,000.00
- 2006 Suzuki GSX-R1000 approx. value- $ 8,000.00
- 2006 Suzuki GSX-R600K approx. value- $ 6,000.00
All five were impounded for safekeeping and a joint investigation is ongoing by members of the Bronx’s DA’s Auto Squad and NYPD’s Auto Crime Division.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Suzuki GSX-R1000 on 02/17/2012 in MCNY-Two Wheel Corp- Mineola, NY.
