Dallas Police Recover Valuable Ingersoll-Rand Air Compressor Owned By Manhattan Construction - Back On The Job Site, In Under Three Hours

Westwood, MA, September 21, 2001 - For the people at Manhattan Construction, a regular workday ended on a much brighter note than it began, thanks to the quick work of Dallas police, and a LoJack tracking device that Manhattan Construction had the foresight to install on a valuable Ingersoll-Rand Air Compressor.

A construction supervisor at a site near downtown Dallas noticed that an Ingersoll-Rand Air compressor, valued at $13,000, was missing from the jobsite. He quickly called Dallas Police and Manhattan Construction to notify them of the theft. The air compressor was the fifth piece of LoJack equipped heavy equipment that the company has had stolen and returned to work.

Soon after police received the call, the equipment's serial numbers were punched into the Texas Crime Information Computer. This activated the LoJack transmitter, hidden within the recesses of the Air Compressor.

Within three hours after the call came into the police precinct, a Dallas Police officer began to pick up the LoJack signal in his police cruiser. The signal became stronger as the officer drove in the direction of the compressor. The officer was led to an apartment complex parking lot, and there sat the stolen air compressor, parked in the lot.

Manhattan Construction was rapidly notified that their equipment had been discovered and in good condition. Jim Adams, Manhattan Construction's Equipment Manager, was quoted as saying "LoJack devices are a true asset in our business, and are worth their weight in gold. Their service during and after the sale is exceptional."

Commenting on the recovery and the new LoJack for heavy equipment, LoJack's Kathy Slatcher, National Sales Manager-Commercial noted, "Theft of equipment is a tremendous concern for a company such as Manhattan Construction, as is their commitment to their customers. LoJack tracking units for construction and equipment enable a construction company to safeguard their property in a cost-effective manner, and get their equipment back on the job, making money, where it belongs."
