LoJack System Leads Police to Bust Commercial Theft Ring Involving Stolen Equipment Worth $226,500

Perris, CA - June 16, 2011 -
LoJack Corporation today announced that a stolen 2006 Sullair Compressor equipped with the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System led law enforcement in Southern California to bust a large commercial theft ring involving a total of 13 pieces of stolen equipment valued at $226,500.  While the investigation is ongoing, a suspect was just arrested on June 15.

About the Bust
On April 5, 2011, a 2006 Sullair Compressor equipped with the LoJack System was reported stolen from a national equipment rental company.  They reported the theft to police and within 30 minutes of system activation, deputies with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Perris Station and detectives with the Riverside Auto Theft Interdiction Detail (RAID) tracked the silent LoJack signal to a large property in Menifee, CA that was home to a multitude of construction equipment.  There, they questioned an individual who informed police that he had purchased the compressor, as well as five additional pieces of equipment – all of which were found to be stolen – from a suspect who was ultimately arrested in Perris, CA.

After obtaining information, RAID detectives conducted a follow up investigation the next day at a property in Perris.  There, detectives found eight additional pieces of stolen equipment, as well as smaller hand held equipment. The suspect claimed to have purchased all of the stolen equipment from the same group of people, but did not provide information on how to find them.

A surveillance video, which included several additional suspects deemed to be operating a theft ring, was obtained.  The investigation is ongoing to apprehend additional suspects behind this case.
