My LoJack alarm is going off and is not responding to the disarm key on my remote – how do I disarm the alarm?
To bypass your alarm and stop it from going off, you must first locate the bypass button or silver toggle switch. It will be one of the following -

  • A silver toggle switch on the driver’s left side, under the dash area
  • A red or black button (the size of a pencil eraser) on the driver’s left side, under the dash by the left kick panel
  • The alarm LED light itself, as a combination. Try slightly pushing on the LED light, if it depresses in and out like a button then it is the bypass switch
  • A small black button right beside the LED light

Once you have located the button or toggle switch:

  • Be sure to keep the driver’s side door open
  • Place your key in the ignition and turn it to the ‘ON’ position (2 clicks over, making sure all interior dashboard lights are on)
  • Press and hold your bypass button for approximately 5-7 seconds, then release (or flip toggle switch to the opposite side)
  • The alarm should produce a chirp sound
  • Once this is complete, remove the key from the ignition and close the door
  • If successful, the LED light should now be solid red instead of blinking, indicating that the alarm is in bypass mode

My car is not starting, I think it is the alarm.
If you have a LoJack alarm system, which is separate from the LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System, try disarming the alarm before attempting to start your vehicle. If your remote is not functioning and the alarm will not disarm, see the section above on how to disarm an alarm and follow instructions to put your alarm into bypass mode. If the engine cranks but does not start, the problem may be mechanical in nature. You may also be experiencing a low car battery.

My alarm will not arm or disarm when using the remote
The remote provided with your alarm may require a new battery. Normally the battery will last for over a year. For details on which replacement battery to purchase, you can open the remote and read the part number on your battery or contact LoJack customer service at 1-800-4-LoJack (1-800-456-5225). If you use a factory remote, contact your local dealer. The alarm can also be disarmed without a remote (see Owner's Manual for details).

How do I program my remote?
Your remote transmitter must be programmed in order to work with your alarm system. Please follow the instructions below for the appropriate part number. PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR REMOTE BEFORE YOU BEGIN THE PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE.

For Part Number AT4/BWS290:
NOTE: When programming a new remote, you must also program all other remotes at the same time. A maximum of three (3) remotes can be programmed to your alarm. Ensure that you have all remotes before proceeding.

  1. Disarm your alarm (red LED light is OFF). If your vehicle is in valet mode (red LED light solid), return the alarm system to normal operation.
  2. Open the driver's door and leave open while you program the remote(s)
  3. Put your key in the ignition and turn "ON" and "OFF" three times rapidly, ending in the ON position per the following sequence -- ON, OFF, ON, OFF, ON. Note: The ON position means turning the key to the last position prior to starting the car.
  4. The alarm will chirp once. If the alarm does not chirp, repeat step 3.
  5. Locate your alarm's valet switch. The type of valet switch included with your alarm system may be one of the following:
    1. A red or black push-button the size of a pencil eraser located below the dashboard.
    2. A black button located next to your LED status indicator.
    3. In some cases, the LED indicator light also functions as the valet switch. If so, the LED should press with ease (do not push the LED with force as this may damage the LED).
  6. Push and hold the valet switch for about five (5) seconds until the alarm chirps three (3) times.
  7. Within 10 seconds, press the large button on each of the remotes. Make sure you program all remotes at this time, pressing the large button on each remote one after the other (maximum of three).
  8. You should hear one (1) chirp for each remote programmed. If you do not hear a chirp for each remote, start over from step 2.
  9. Turn your key in the ignition to the "OFF" position. The siren will sound indicating that you have left programming mode.
  10. Programming is now complete.

For Part Numbers AT5 and AT6:
NOTE: Programming this remote only requires you to program the new remote(s) you purchased. All other remotes do not need to be re-programmed. The receiver can store up to 4 different transmitter codes in memory. Use the following procedure to add transmitters to the system.

  1. Open the driver's door and keep open while programming your remote(s).
  2. Turn the ignition to the "ON" position (last position before starting the car).
  3. Locate your LED/Valet Switch. (The valet switch is activated by pressing the red LED status indicator.)
  4. Enter transmitter program: Within 10 seconds of switching car to "ON," press and release the integrated LED/Valet switch once. Then press and hold the integrated LED/Valet switch once more. The horn will chirp and the LED will blink once. Continue to hold the switch and proceed to step 5.
  5. Press the lock button: While holding the integrated LED/Valet® switch, press the lock button on the remote. The unit will chirp indicating successful programming. The transmitter is now programmed.
  6. When you turn the ignition "OFF", the horn will chirp indicating you have left programming mode.
  7. Additional transmitter program: If you wish to program an additional transmitter, repeat steps 1 through 4. Remember that the system will only accept a maximum of 4 different transmitters.
